Construction soon begins on a landmark 57-acre destination soccer complex in Forest City, Rutherford County, North Carolina.
Legacy Soccer Park will become the home of the Rutherford County Soccer Association (RCSA) and its wide range of local youth soccer programs, numbering more than 600 participants.
Thanks to the RHI Legacy Foundation, the Rutherford County Tourism Development Authority, Forest City, Rutherford County, and the state of North Carolina (through a one-time state appropriation), this soccer complex will bolster recreation in the local community and attract top-tier soccer teams from across the region.
The park will feature a championship-grade artificial turf soccer field, five natural turf fields, two mini urban soccer pitches, and numerous other associated amenities and support facilities that will transform the vacant 57-acre site into an extraordinary community asset.
The park’s design meets functional needs while creating a legacy-worthy space, establishing a new standard for rural sports in the region. The vision to push contemporary architecture in a rural county was brought to life through DbD’s collaboration with the Stitch Design Shop.
This first-rate facility will be capable of hosting large tournaments and has the potential to bring thousands of additional visitors to the area.
Sports tourism is a rapidly growing sector of the tourism industry and will provide tremendous economic benefits to the local economy from the families who travel to the area to compete, stay in lodging accommodations, and eat in local restaurants.
The DbD-designed Legacy logo and signage package will be key to enhancing name recognition and fostering the park’s unique sense of place.
